Welcome Back

Happy New Year! I hope your winter break was filled with joy, relaxation, and quality time with loved ones. As we step into a new year, I am thrilled to welcome you all back to school and share in the energy and excitement of the months ahead.
This semester brings countless opportunities for learning, growth, and connection. Our teachers and staff have been preparing engaging lessons and activities that will inspire our students to explore, create, and achieve their goals. Together, we will continue to foster a culture of belonging, curiosity, and excellence at Hope School.
As always, our partnership with you is vital to your child’s success. We encourage open communication and invite you to reach out with any questions, ideas, or ways to get involved. Please join us in the Library for our General PTA meeting on January 8 at 6:30 pm. Stay tuned for updates about upcoming events and opportunities to connect as a school community.
Thank you for your continued support and for being an integral part of the Hope School family. Let’s make this a fantastic semester for our students!

New Faces in the Office

I’m writing to share some exciting updates about our office team at Hope School.
Marjorie Godoy Alvardo, who has been a friendly and familiar face in our front office, is transitioning to a new role as the Administrative Assistant in the Special Education Department. We are so grateful for her dedication and contributions to our school community and wish her the very best in this new position!
Joining our team is Dafne Teixeira, who will serve as our new School Clerk, supporting Health and Attendance. Dafne brings a wealth of experience and is fluent in both Portuguese and Spanish, which will be a tremendous asset to our diverse community.
Please join me in giving Dafne a warm Hope welcome as she begins her journey with us!

Cell Phones and Smart Watches- Off and Away

Happy New Year! As we start the new semester, I’d like to remind you about the Off and Away Policy for cell phones and smart watches in the Hope School District.
If your child received a cell phone or smart watch as a gift during the holidays or already has one, please remind them of our policy:

  • All devices must be turned off and stored in backpacks upon arrival on campus.
  • Devices should not be checked or used until the end of the school day.

We strongly encourage families to consider keeping these devices at home to avoid distractions and ensure our students remain focused on learning and social interactions during the school day.
Please note that the school is not responsible for lost, stolen, or damaged personal items, including cell phones and smart watches.

Thank you for your cooperation and support in maintaining a positive and distraction-free learning environment for all of our students. If you have any questions about this policy, please don’t hesitate to reach out.

Construction Update If you came by campus during the break, you will have noticed the construction workers and our facilities team hard at work.

The Hope Elementary School District Planning and Construction Management oversees new construction and modernization of all district facilities. The department is responsible for the district’s short and long-term facility needs, including enrollment and staffing projections to identify facility needs.

Through careful planning and support from the community, Hope Elementary School District has prepared well to accommodate the current needs of our students, staff, and community.  In March 2020, the Hope School District community voters passed Measure J. This $47.4 million bond will provide funding for the modernization of our facilities, including new construction at Hope Elementary School, Monte Vista Elementary School, and Vieja Valley Elementary School.

The first series of $12 million was sold in May 2020, received in June 2020, and deposited in Fund 22 (Bonds). The district must spend 85% of those proceeds within three years. Staff predicts all $47.4 million proceeds will be spent by 2025. Closing out the bond program requirements by June 2026.
